Plastics, composites, hydrocarbons, wood and metals, the energy transition is redistributing the cards for the use of raw materials and materials. Necessary for a low-carbon economy, new types of goods and resources are becoming highly strategic.
True to its capacity for innovation, French industry is embracing this sustainable trend. Thanks to plant-based chemistry, for example in textiles, companies make efficient use of resources. By developing recycling and recovering waste, industrial and territorial ecology projects are at the origin of new job-creating activities.
Several of these raw materials are strategic for the defence industry, which requires having their supply guaranteed. French industry relies on its sometimes-pioneering expertise, such as the storage of CO2 in hydrocarbons or the invention of new sustainable and environmentally-friendly materials.
