SOMFY

Context

Somfy is the world leader in the automatic control of openings and closures in homes and buildings and a key player in the connected home.
The Rumilly site, or “Somfy Smart Factory”, is a connected factory specialised in the manufacture of connected security equipment and home automation boxes.
Its 40 employees produce 300 different finished product references.

Labelled Project

Somfy Rumilly earned the label for its “Somfy Smart Factory” project. Through this project, it quickly gained competitiveness on an ultra-competitive consumer electronics market, hotly contested by Asian players.
Following the in-depth transformation and modernisation of the production tool thanks to digital technology, the factory is now controlled in real time thanks to the digitalisation of its processes and the interconnection of systems, with a prime place for the IoT.
It thus facilitates mass production that is can be largely customised to meet the great diversity of customer needs. The site has become a reference for the Group and an attractive site in the region. Lastly, this project is also an example of close collaboration between the company, its employees and its ecosystem.

This project has been labelled in 2018.

Achievements

“People” at the heart of the “Smart Factory” system to manufacture connected objects in a connected factory.

The Smart Factory project was as much a source of motivation and promotion as it was of team empowerment. It fostered interaction and collaboration between teams to improve industrial and logistics operations. Our operating modes have been simplified and they are now agile. Our plant is attractive!
